Four People Injured After Car Runs Red Light

Picture yourself driving along obeying traffic and doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing when out of nowhere your vehicle is slammed into by another vehicle that has ran a red light. Unfortunately, this is a situation that is all too real and one that happens all too often on the streets of Chicago. People run red lights for many reasons. Sometimes drivers become distracted and never even see that a light has turned red. Other times, people are in a hurry and they try to make a yellow light that has actually turned red by the time they get there. Other times, drivers choose to recklessly speed through red lights. Whatever the reason, when someone runs a red light there is a good chance an accident will occur.

Recently, four people were injured in Park Ridge after an SUV reportedly ran a red light and slammed into another vehicle. According to authorities, the driver of the SUV was speeding at the time of the incident and he allegedly ignored the red light. The car that was hit, an Audi sedan, had only one occupant, who was hurt in the crash and taken to the hospital, the 24-year-old woman did not have life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 20-year-old man was also hurt and taken to the hospital. His injuries were reportedly serious.

Meantime, there were also two passengers riding in the SUV at the time of the crash, a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman. Both of those passengers reportedly suffered serious injuries after they were thrown from the vehicle during the crash. While authorities say that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash, there were some reports that the driver of the SUV might have been racing another vehicle before he ran the red light. However at the time of this report, authorities could not confirm that the driver was actually racing. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

This is just one example of someone running a red light and causing serious injuries to others. While the exact cause is not yet known, if investigators determine that he was racing or even speeding to make the light then he could be held accountable.
